All-in-one-package

The RopeRanger® sensor case is precision machined from a solid block of airframe grade 7050 aluminum. It is a self-contained device including a rope tension sensor, a highly sensitive 3-axis MEMS accelerometer, a 2.4 GHz data radio, and various power supply options. Slack rope, rope tension, & oscillation, are all measured simultaneously.

Easy to install

The RopeRanger® is designed and engineered for simple installation, and is ready to use on power-up. It is ideally located on the hoist rope directly above the conveyance.

Embedded RF and microprocessor

The RopeRanger® incorporates a 16 bit A/D microprocessor and proprietary firmware to maximize rope tension and vibration sensitivity. An integrated spread spectrum 2.4 GHZ RF wireless data link is approved for unlicensed use worldwide.

Slack Rope Warning

“Sag line” devices are useful only for the first few hundred feet of shaft. The RopeRanger® provides slack rope protection over the full length of the shaft. This is crucial when lowering heavy equipment and during high speed production hoisting. Slack rope or safety factor limits are detected within 100ms, activating an alarm warning light, and buzzer. Relays are also supplied allowing mine personnel to interface to the hoist safety circuit.

Automated Shaft Inspection

The SkipRanger® is directly attached to the skip or cage for full-speed, full time, automated inspections. Excessive vibration, rough guide joints, and poor alignment are detected in real time. The hoist duty cycle is preconfigured with our display software. Top and bottom limit switches are provided for automated display as the conveyance descends and ascends.

User-friendly hoistroom display

Industrial rated touchscreen monitor, fanless computer, and shaft specific computer displays, all add flexibility & ease of use. Tabs access various display modes such as:

• Real time charts showing a profile of shaft alignment, conveyance vibration and skip/cage acceleration, rope oscillation, & load dynamics
• “Home page” charts data and password protected setup menu
• Hoist duty cycle screen for automated inspection. The hoist supervisor provides conveyance cycle data (download shaft spec form)
• Hoistman screen shows digital meter of rope endload and payload

Optional Equipment

The RopeRanger® can be supplied with numerous computer and display options to fit customer requirements. Available power supplies include inherently safe LiFePo or AGM gell-cell batteries. “PowrSavr” modes extend battery life.
